Weddings
The idea of taking photographs on such an occasion, is to not only ensure that the important photographs of the Bride and Groom with family members are taken, but also that the Bride and Groom get an opportunity to mingle with their guests and have a chance to relax without posing for endless series of photographs which can easily take up all of the spare time at an unique event where friends and family are gathered in one spot for just a few hours.
Therefore, I take just those photographs that the couple determine are important to them, and then I like to get out into the crowd and photograph the event as it really happened, using a mixture of colour and black and white, to provide a series of photographs in an album that is closer to a storybook rather than a list of posed photographs. Not every photograph will be one to frame and put on the wall, but they will show the Bride and Groom and guests enjoying the day for what it was, meeting those people important to them.
No matter how many magazines you read, or books you purchase on "How to organise your own Wedding", there is nothing better than taking notes from someone that has actually been to all kinds of weddings in all sorts of weather. That is not to say that all weddings are alike, as each has its own personal "character", but the nuts and bolts are still the same, a Ceremony, some photographs and a reception. I hope you find some of the notes below helpful, they are not "rules", but certainly may give you an insight into how your day will proceed.
