Why Choose a Professional Photographer
As we all know, a wedding can be an expensive day as there are many individual items to arrange, from the invitation cards, to the reception venue and the type of meal you wish to have. So it is quite a predicament knowing where to spend your money and where to save it. It can be tempting to cut back in areas where family and friends can help out and the photographs are an example of this. After all, Uncle Ted has a pretty nifty camera with a zoom lens and he took a smashing sunset picture on holiday. He could hardly turn down his favourite niece and the honour of being asked to be the official photographer at such an important event, one he can hardly refuse.
But as the event looms closer, it suddenly dawns how much responsibility there is attached to such a task. Not only is it an event you cannot repeat, but the time allowed for photographs is quite short considering the amount of work to do. The weather may not be perfect, (it rarely is) and a wet day can be just as awkward as a hot sunny one and it is experience that will count here. Any photographer worth his money should be able to avoid trees growing out of heads and I have seen photographs taken against a background which is, shall we say, not the best.
The happy couple require a Master of ceremonies to keep things running smoothly and on time, taking photographs in different locations and in awkward lighting conditions, knowing when to use fill in flash and how to use it. Grouping people so they do not look like footballers lining up for a free kick, arranging the parents close to the Bride and Groom, not lost behind the head of that very tall cousin and most important of all, making sure that everything is done so that your guests can sit down on time for the wedding breakfast.
Let Uncle Ted take some pictures over the photographer's shoulder by all means, but rely upon an expert to make your day go smoothly and on time and if you must save some money, have another look at the guest list!
